What's up in the world of Junk Jules?

It's been a busy month since the launch of JunkJules.com and I've been fulfilling orders, recipe testing, and scheduling events. I'm building Junk Jules while managing a full time job and competing in Olympic weightlifting (and caring for this little doofus, Flapjack).

I also freshened up my purple hair, traveled to a few states, and competed in the America Open Series 3 (Olympic Weightlifting competition--I'll address my awesome hobby in another post!). Below you'll see a smattering of my recent recipe tests, which include candy stuffed brownies, cookie stuffed cookies, and Oreo inspired cakes. I've been perfecting my cookie bases and toying with some out there ideas to prepare for something exciting--my first pop up event!

I'm stoked to announce that I'll be hosting a popup at Eastern Market Brewing Company in Detroit on Sunday, November 3rd from 1-5pm! I'll have cookies, tarts,

vegan options, and a few special surprised and freebies. Come support me and try some of my beloved standbys and fun new treats!I'll be posting the popup menu and more details next week, so keep checking the blog for more info!

Below are my Butterfinger, Chocolate Frosted Flakes, and Reese's peanut butter chip brownies! They have such great textural contrast with the crunchy, peanut-y topping, which yields to a fudgy, decadent, dark chocolate brownie.

This may look like a standard chocolate chip cookie cake, but it has a few tricks up its sleeve--it's stuffed with Kit Kats and brown butter toffee pretzels! The butter toffee pretzels give the cookie a shortbread-like buttery flavor, and the Kit Kats offer a light, crunchy bite. Dark chocolate chips and sea salt break up the sweetness and give the cookie cake depth of flavor.

This ganache covered chocolate peanut butter cake was inspired by my husband's favorite Oreo--peanut butter pie! Three layers of blackout chocolate are filled with peanut butter ganache, covered in chocolate butter cream, and garnished with peanut butter pie Oreos. It's rich, peanutty, and perfect for a special occasion.

Shoutout to my amazing stylist Teiara Evon at the Salon by J. Lyle for this purple dream! Check her out if you live in Eastern Michigan--she does incredible color and fresh cuts.

Excited to see you all at Eastern Market Brewing Company on November 3rd!
