About Jules
Growing up in the 90s, I craved classic treats like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Pop Tarts, and Rice Krispies Treats. Yet, being diagnosed at an early age with a lactose intolerance, I often had to choose between depriving myself of my favorite treats or feeling ill.. Often times when I did find dairy free treats, they were also vegan and gluten free, marketed as “healthy” and weren't satisfying. What I really wanted was nostalgia-inducing sweets like Cosmic Brownies and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal treats - not a sugar free granola bar. I wanted the junk food of my childhood with an allergy-friendly spin - not to be left out of the celebration because the cake made me sick.

Tired of these flavorless baked goods, I began experimenting more with dairy free, vegan, gluten free, soy free, and nut free baking in my free time, making cakes, cookies, and pastries for friends and family. My junk food inspired, allergy-friendly desserts were so popular that I started receiving texts and calls from friends and family members asking me to cater their next party.

So in 2019, I decided to start Junk Jules!
Leaning on my restaurant kitchen and service industry experience, I've grown Junk Jules into a full time pop-up and custom order bakery.
​
I strive to evoke nostalgia by incorporating classic junk foods and sweets I ate as a kid into my bakes, while ensuring there are options for every diet and every palate. I don’t take myself too seriously and love to make whimsical, yet high-end bakes--think crisped rice treats covered in homemade vegan toffee or a fresh fruit tart with a Fruity Pebbles crust.
