November has been a fun month already, filled with events, custom orders, and tons of research and recipe testing. My inaugural popup at Eastern Market Brewing in downtown Detroit on November 3rd was a hit! I sold near 50 desserts, including Fruit Pebbles Fruit Tarts, Junk Cookies, Malted Chocolate S'mores Cookies, and Maple Oreo Kettle Corn Cupcakes. See the final menu from 11/3 below!
It was so great to support my favorite brewery in Detroit, get to know so many awesome community members, and share the excitement of customers with dietary restrictions when they realized there were options for them. My dairy free Junk Cookies were the top seller, and I agree with some customers and staff who told me they paired well with the stout on tap :)
I really appreciate the support I received from my friends, the community, and Eastern Market Brewing alike!
I also had the opportunity to make a fun vegan spider-shaped cake for a Halloween birthday party (how lucky is he to have a Halloween week birthday?!?), complete with crushed oreos covering the body, non-pareils for eyes, and black cardstock legs! I think I perfected my vegan vanilla cake texture and flavor just in time for that order. I also made classic lemon bars for another customer celebrating a November birthday--a dessert I've been making for almost a decade and absolutely love! The interplay between the tart lemon curd and the buttery, flaky crust makes for a balanced and refreshing treat. As much as I love baking cookies in my free time and frosting 3-4 layer cakes, something about baking delicate pastries is so satisfying.
This month, I also traveled to NYC to visit family and did some intense market research--via sampling treats from classic and new bakeries alike! I had all the Levain cookies (of course) and my favorite black and white cookies from William Greenberg, among many other fun treats that inspire me.
Keep checking my blog and instagram for upcoming events and holiday specials--December is going to be an even bigger month than November! And remember, I'm always taking custom orders right here on my website, so get ahead of the holiday rush and order soon!
